We are currently interested in supporting research in the following areas:

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

The Baxter BioScience Research Grant process consists of two stages:

Stage 1:  Proposal Application
A brief overview application
Stage 2:  Full Application
A full detailed study protocol

Please note that, although it is optional to submit Stage 1 and Stage 2 sequentially, we encourage you to submit both Stage 1 and Stage 2 simultaneously to expedite the review process.

Stage 1:  Proposal Application

Please submit all of the following documents. If you have trouble downloading the application form, please contact a Baxter BioScience Grants representative at 1-805-372-3315.

  • US Only: Complete and sign the current W-9 Form, with address and information of the Institution/Organization for which payment would be issued.
 
  • Non-US Only: The W-8 Form must be completed ONLY if work is to be performed within U.S. territory. Please complete the appropriate W-8 Form with address and information of the Institution/Organization for which payment would be issued. If all services will be performed outside U.S territory, please state on your institution's letterhead that "No work will be performed on U.S. territory".

  • Include a cover letter on the requesting institution's letterhead.

  • Include the curriculum vitae of Principal Investigator, including a list of principle investigator's publications.

  • Include detailed study budget for entire project, and funding amount requested from Baxter. If multiple commercial supporters are involved, please indicate other funding entities. Baxter is not the sponsor of the study and assumes no obligations as the study sponsor.
NOTE:
  • Study budgets without specific line-item details will not be accepted and will delay the review process.

Stage 2:  Full Application

Complete ALL STEPS in Stage 1 request above. In addition:

  • Include a copy of your complete study protocol for conducting this study with your submission.

  • If patient samples are used, please include in your protocol IRB, informed consent, and ethical handling issues.

  • List any pertinent references required to substantiate your research request.

TIMELINES

  • Stage 1: Proposal Applications (without the Study Protocol) are reviewed on a Quarterly basis. Proposal Applications that are approved will progress to Stage 2 for a Full Grant Application.
  • Stage 2: Full Applications (submitted with the Study Protocol) are reviewed on a Quarterly basis. Full Applications will be evaluated to determine eligibility of funding.

FUNDING GUIDELINES

Research grants approved by the BioScience Review Committee typically range from $5,000 to $125,000; requests exceeding this amount must demonstrate exceptional qualities and address critically important medical issues.
